Greens ready for harvest

Spring is a great time to be a CSA member - once we get into the warmer months things really start to pick up and there is a noticeable difference from week to week as new veggies become available!

The Spring Share finds us taking advantage of last fall's bountiful harvest and looking forward to the promise of a new season. We'll start the share with harvests of fresh salad greens and shoots. We are well stocked with beets, carrots, potatoes, rutabagas, cabbage, onions, and other treats from the root cellar. We had a long harvest last summer and our freezer is storing that goodness, like spinach, squash puree, sweet red peppers, tomatoes, roasted poblano peppers, broccoli and cauliflower, and more tomatoes. These veggies will fill the bulk of the vegetable portion for the first 5-6 weeks of the share.

In March/early-April, we heat things up with greenhouse goods in each weeks' share. Delicacies such as mesclun, baby pac choi, Asian greens, kale, and chard burst onto the scene followed by bunched beets, salad turnips, Napa cabbage, scallions, and mini onions. May and early June bring head lettuce, cucumbers, baby fennel, spinach, radishes and much more!
